Trident Tech Campus Planned For Mt. Pleasant

Trident Technical College just announced plans to open a Campus in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Currently 1600 students from the East Cooper area attend Trident Tech. Trident Tech is investing $500,000 to renovate the former Bassett Furniture Store on Hungreyneck Blvd. The 25,000 square foot facility was purchased by the town of Mt. Pleasant recently and the town is expected to lease the facility to Trident Tech for 5 years for $1 per year.

A detailed schedule of campus offerings and additional training opportunities will be announced later in the Spring. It is anticipated that general courses, such as English and math, will be offered, along   with classes in computer graphics, digital photography, computer animation, computer imagery and engineering design.The Mount Pleasant Campus is expected to open in the Fall of 2011. The campus is expected to eventually serve 1000 students. Mayor Billy Swails approached Trident Tech 10 months ago with the idea. Last Fall, 15,790 full and part time students enrolled at Trident Tech. The college has three campuses, the main campus in North Charleston, the downtown Palmer Campus and the Berkeley Campus.
